Sony has unveiled the Reon Pocket Pro Plus, an upgraded version of their wearable cooling device that uses the Peltier effect to cool the neck area. First conceptualized in 2017 and crowdfunded in 2019, the refined device delivers cool temperatures directly to the circulatory system through a USB-C powered metal plate, functioning like a high-tech ice pack that users wear beneath clothing.

The new model offers 20% improved cooling performance compared to its predecessor, with a two-degree Celsius temperature increase. Enhanced cooling algorithms more accurately monitor temperature changes, while redesigned neck fins provide 40% greater stability. Despite its increased power, the device maintains up to 10 hours of battery life on its second-highest cooling setting, with automatic shutdown to prevent overheating during extended wear.

Priced at £199 in the UK and €220 in Europe, the Reon Pocket Pro Plus includes a second-generation Pocket Tag for monitoring ambient conditions and a companion app for customization. While US pricing and availability remain unconfirmed, the device represents Sony's nearly decade-long refinement of personal cooling technology aimed at providing relief during increasingly hot weather conditions, with heat-map images showing stronger, more sustained cooling effects than previous models.
