Sony Skips CES 2027 for Entertainment Focus

Sony has confirmed it will not participate in CES 2027, marking a significant shift away from the consumer electronics show that has long been a staple of its press presence. The company stated that neither it nor its affiliates plan to showcase any products at the January event, citing a strategic pivot toward entertainment, including games, anime, films, and music, as well as its intellectual property and creator-focused technologies. This move follows Nikkei’s initial report on Sony’s exit from CES.

While Sony did not have its own booth at CES 2026, a prototype of the Afeela electric vehicle—a joint project with Honda—was displayed. However, the partnership was later scrapped, and both companies announced a review of their joint venture. Sony has also reduced its presence in other consumer tech areas, such as TVs, after transferring the Bravia brand to TCL.

Despite this, the company continues to develop gaming hardware under the PlayStation division, which has expanded into monitors, headphones, and speakers. If the PlayStation 6 is announced next year, it will not debut at CES.
