Skate Developer Full Circle Lays Off Staff After Early Access Launch

Full Circle, the studio developing the new free-to-play Skate game, has announced a restructuring that includes layoffs. The move comes less than six months after the title's early access debut on September 15, 2025. Owner EA formed the studio in 2021 with veterans from the original Skate series.

This decision directly follows the franchise's shift from paid, single-player experiences to a free-to-play live-service model supported by microtransactions. While Full Circle noted "tens of millions" of players have tried the game, the restructuring suggests challenges in sustaining player engagement and revenue, a common hurdle for live-service launches.

The timing mirrors recent struggles of other live-service titles like *Concord* and *Highguard*. The layoffs indicate that even a well-known franchise with a large initial player base faces immense pressure to convert that interest into long-term, profitable engagement under the modern games-as-a-service paradigm.
