The SanDisk Extreme Fit drive offers a compact solution for expanding storage, with its largest 1TB model boasting double the capacity of the iPhone 17's top configuration. This USB 3.2 USB-C drive is notably small, measuring just 0.73 x 0.54 x 0.63 inches and weighing 0.1 ounces, designed to sit almost flush in a USB port as a "plug-and-stay" device.

SanDisk's Principal Engineer of Systems Design, Deepesh Singh, highlighted the engineering feat, stating it's the "smallest SiP" they've created with a vertical USB-C connector. This was achieved by mounting the connector perpendicular to the SiP using a proprietary interposer circuit board, overcoming early prototyping challenges.

While not as fast as NVMe drives, the Extreme Fit offers respectable speeds for a USB stick. Models from 128GB to 1TB provide read speeds up to 400 MB/s, with the 64GB version at 300 MB/s. Write speeds range from 100-250 MB/s, suitable for photos and smaller files. The drive is compatible with USB-C equipped iPhones (iPhone 15 and later) and can be used with older models via a Lightning adapter, with file transfers managed through the iPhone's Files app.
