ASUS’s gaming arm has opened pre‑orders for the ROG Xreal R1 AR glasses, pricing them at $849. The units will ship from Best Buy now and from the company’s website starting May 17. Building on the Xreal One Pro’s $649 price tag, the ROG version adds a faster 240Hz panel and an included docking station for console and PC hookups.

Both models retain a 57‑degree field of view, projecting a 171‑inch virtual screen when viewed from four metres. Resolution stays at 1080p, which reviewers hoped would climb to 1440p or 4K, but it remains HD. The higher refresh rate makes the glasses suitable for fast shooters while still handling movies and productivity tasks. Users also report comfortable eye relief during extended sessions.

The bundled dock sacrifices some portability but unlocks connections for hardware like the upcoming Switch 2, letting gamers switch between consoles without swapping cables. Early hands‑on reports praise the glasses’ light form factor compared with bulkier VR headsets, noting they shine in cramped travel scenarios. At $849, the ROG Xreal R1 positions itself as an AR option for gamers. It also supports wireless audio via Bluetooth.
