Resident Evil icon Shinji Mikami's newly formed studio, Unbound Inc., has secured a distribution and support deal with Shift Up, the South Korean publisher behind *Stellar Blade* and *Goddess of Victory: Nikke*. The partnership will allow Unbound to develop and release its projects globally on PC and consoles, with Shift Up handling publishing duties. Mikami, a revered figure in survival horror for directing *Resident Evil*, its 2002 remake, and *Resident Evil 4*, also founded Tango Gameworks—known for *The Evil Within* and *Hi-Fi Rush*, which was shuttered by Microsoft in 2024 amid industry layoffs.

Mikami left Tango after its closure, later establishing Unbound in 2022.
