Sony's PS5 supports a wide range of physical media despite plans to end disc-based game production by 2028. All PS5 and most PS4 game discs work, with backward compatibility covering iconic titles like Bloodborne and Red Dead Redemption 2. Six PS4 games are incompatible, including Hitman Go: Definitive Edition.
The console also plays Ultra HD Blu-ray, standard Blu-ray, and DVDs, but not 3D Blu-rays or audio CDs. A detachable disc drive is available for $79 for digital models, though it's incompatible with the original Digital Edition. Non-circular discs and GameCube discs are rejected.
