Developer Cristina Ramos has created a surprising 3D demo for the handheld Playdate console, showcasing capabilities previously thought impossible for the device.

The demo features platforming gameplay, moving from an interior environment to an open-air rooftop, reminiscent of games like Mirror's Edge. Ramos expressed her determination to push the Playdate's limits, stating, "I was told you couldn't do 3D on the Playdate, so I did it. Then I was told there was no way I could create exterior levels like those in Mirror's Edge, so I proved them wrong again."

This project highlights the Playdate's appeal, encouraging developers to be imaginative within its constraints. The demo demonstrates that with sufficient ingenuity, developers can achieve remarkable feats on the Playdate, even making it perform seemingly impossible tasks. The Playdate has also found other unique applications, such as assisting Big Ben in keeping accurate time.
