The Pixel 11 Pro's updates focus on photography software, with hardware tweaks including a larger 50-megapixel main sensor and improved telephoto. New features include Magic Capture, Instant Night Sight, Camera Looks, Creator Suite, and 120x Pro Zoom.

Google's Portrait mode remains superior to Apple's, offering easier use across varied scenarios. Camera Looks introduces four permanent styles—Original, Natural, Shadows, and Vanilla—plus six session-based filters. While customizable, the filters feel surface-level compared to Apple's more dynamic Photographic Styles.

Instant Night Sight significantly improves low-light performance, outpacing the iPhone 17 Pro Max in speed thanks to the Tensor G6 processor and larger sensors. However, 120x Pro Zoom produces uncanny results, particularly with organic subjects like birds, where AI-generated details appear overly processed.

Magic Capture records up to two-minute videos and automatically extracts memorable stills. Testing showed it successfully identified key moments from action sequences, though its selection logic favors obvious poses and movements. The feature also retains full video for manual frame extraction.

Overall, Google excels in computational photography but faces diminishing returns with extreme zoom capabilities that compromise authenticity.
