Perplexity Launches AI Teammates for Max Subscribers

Perplexity has introduced personal AI agents called “teammates” that are designed to handle ongoing work autonomously with minimal supervision. The new agents are built on top of Perplexity Computer, the company’s cloud‑based agentic assistant, and add “additional capabilities for ongoing, large‑scale work.”

Users can assign each teammate its own role or task, and the agents work simultaneously, even managing other teammates to ensure completion. They can bring in additional teammates, plan newcomers’ tasks, and run 24/7 in the background, notifying the user when a decision is required. Each teammate appears as a separate entry on the Computer sidebar, showing current and finished activities. You can also hand off more work to the agents, tell them to switch gears, or ask for status updates in the same threads.

The feature is currently exclusive to Perplexity Max subscribers on the web and iOS, making it a premium option at $200 per month or $2,000 annually. The subscription cost places it out of reach for casual users, positioning the service as a high‑end productivity tool for power users.
