OpenClaw Launches iOS and Android Apps for Agentic AI on Smartphones

OpenClaw has released standalone apps for both iOS and Android devices, officially bringing agentic AI assistants to mainstream app stores. The apps allow users to chat with AI agents while granting access to core phone functions including camera, location, photos, contacts, calendar and reminders.

The launch marks a dramatic shift for OpenClaw, which rapidly evolved from a minor project to a major player in agentic AI. After founder Peter Steinberger joined OpenAI earlier this year, the project transitioned to foundation-led open-source development. OpenAI will provide unspecified support to the organization.

Apple's historically strict review process has created challenges for agentic tools, with the company blocking many apps over security concerns around "vibe coding." iOS users previously relied on third-party chat apps like Telegram or WhatsApp to interact with AI agents.

The availability of official App Store and Play Store apps signals growing acceptance of agentic AI on mobile platforms. This could accelerate adoption of AI assistants that can directly interact with device functions, potentially reshaping how users engage with artificial intelligence on their phones.
