Netflix has expanded its streaming agreement with Sony Pictures, securing exclusive Pay-1 rights to upcoming films including the Legend of Zelda live-action movie. The multi-year deal also covers a slate of Beatles biopics and grants Netflix early access to Sony’s new releases globally.

This partnership builds on Netflix’s strategy to lock up premium content as competition among streamers intensifies. Sony films like *Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse* and *Uncharted* have already found strong audiences on the platform, reinforcing the value of exclusive licensing.

Netflix is also licensing content from Sony’s existing library, with full rollout expected by 2029. The deal reportedly exceeds $7 billion, reflecting Netflix’s willingness to invest heavily in content to retain subscribers and fend off rivals.

Beyond Sony, Netflix is pursuing a major content play with its proposed $82.7 billion acquisition of Warner Bros., though that effort faces legal pushback from Paramount.
