Lenovo unveiled its AI Workmate at MWC 2026, a desk‑mounted robot that blends an Intel Core Ultra processor with 64GB of RAM and a built‑in Pico projector. The device sports a 3.4‑inch LCD face that reacts to voice and gestures, positioning itself as a collaborative assistant for office workflows in modern workspaces today for teams.

Beyond answering routine queries, the robot scans and summarizes both digital and physical documents, and can draft PowerPoint slides on demand. Its articulated head houses cameras and the projector, allowing it to display images on a desk or wall without moving a laptop. A demo showed it projecting a Barcelona postcard, signing it, and printing the result.

Lenovo also showcased a non‑robotic AI Work Companion, a sleek desk clock that doubles as a hub. Its front display shows calendars, task lists, and a “Thought Bubble” that syncs schedules across devices, suggesting breaks and monitoring screen time. The unit plugs into USB‑C for power and offers charging ports for other accessories in today.

While the robot’s playful gestures and on‑desk projector promise streamlined collaboration, office workers may balk at the added noise and visual clutter. Lenovo frames the concept as a testbed for spatial AI that could eventually lean on text‑based interactions. For now, the prototype remains a curiosity rather than a ready‑to‑buy solution in the future market.
