Kobo has announced plans to integrate its ereaders and reading apps with StoryGraph, a community-driven alternative to Goodreads. The partnership launches in June and will automatically sync reading progress. This collaboration gives readers more control outside Amazon's ecosystem, addressing privacy concerns with Amazon's book platform.

StoryGraph offers users enhanced recommendation algorithms and privacy features compared to Goodreads. Kobo CEO Michael Tamblyn emphasized the importance of reading communities in a statement. The integration will update progress percentages, mark books as "In Progress" and "Read," and work with both ebooks and audiobooks from Kobo's platform.

The partnership aligns with both companies' shared philosophy of empowering readers. Kobo already offers multiple integrations including Instapaper and cloud storage services. This move strengthens Kobo's position as an alternative to Amazon's Kindle ecosystem while giving StoryGraph users more ways to track and share reading activities across devices.
