France's ANJ ordered ISPs to block access to Polymarket, escalating its crackdown on the prediction market. The regulator previously imposed a geoblock on financial transactions from French residents in November 2024.

Despite that ban, Polymarket continued growing in France, recording 578,751 visits and 205,057 unique visits in June alone. The ANJ maintains the platform operates as an illegal gambling site and now threatens fines up to 100,000 euros for anyone advertising unauthorized betting sites.

Spain has also blocked both Polymarket and Kalshi while investigating potential gambling law violations. In the US, Minnesota passed a bill banning prediction markets, while other states pursue lawsuits against both platforms.
