At CES 2026, Clicks co-founder Jeff Gadway detailed the strategy behind the company's new Communicator phone and Power Keyboard. The Communicator is a small, 4-inch Android device with a physical keyboard, designed not as a primary phone, but as a complementary gadget for specific users. Gadway targets demographics including corporate-mandated secondary device carriers, small business owners needing a separate line, international travelers requiring a second SIM, and digital minimalism advocates.

The device runs the Niagara Android launcher, optimized for messaging and quick triaging rather than media consumption. This strategy mirrors the trend of specialized gadgets like e-readers versus tablets. The Power Keyboard, a magnetic sliding accessory with a battery bank, also debuted.

Priced at $399, the Communicator aims to serve niche markets where a distinct, focused secondary device is preferred over a duplicate smartphone.
