Bloomberg reports that Chat GPT and Roblox will be added to the EU’s "very large online platforms" (VLOPs) list in August, subjecting them to stricter rules under the Digital Services Act (DSA). Platforms with more than 45 million monthly users in the region receive the designation. Within four months of designation, they must establish a point of contact for authorities and users, launch user‑friendly terms, and provide transparency on advertising, recommendation systems, and content moderation.

They must also report criminal offences and assess risks related to illegal content, electoral processes, gender‑based violence, freedom of expression, media freedom, and discrimination, then implement mitigation measures. VLOPs are required to set up an internal compliance process, undergo annual audits, share data with the European Commission, and grant vetted researchers access. Both platforms are expected to announce changes for EU users soon.
