CD Projekt Red unveils Witcher 3: Songs of the Past expansion

Polish studio CD Projekt Red revealed its third full expansion for the 2015 RPG *The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt* ahead of schedule, strategically. Titled *Songs of the Past*, the add‑on will revisit the Path with Geralt of Rivia and arrives a year after the decade‑old Blood and Wine DLC celebrated its 10th anniversary. The announcement dropped on the studio’s official X feed.

Development partner Fool’s Theory, the Polish team handling the current Witcher remake, will co‑write the new narrative. CDPR said more details will surface soon later this summer, and the expansion targets PC, Xbox Series X|S and PS5 for a 2027 release. No Switch or Switch 2 version has been confirmed, though the studio’s prior console work suggests a port isn’t impossible.

The surprise drop underscores that CDPR is far from abandoning its flagship title, pushing back expectations for *The Witcher 4*’s launch. With a new DLC slated for next year, the company can monetize a still‑vibrant player base while polishing its next‑gen sequel. Fans now have a concrete reason to return to Geralt’s world before the next chapter arrives.
