Casio is adding smart ring functionality to its newest ring watch, the CRW-H001M-8, which will launch in China for approximately $294. This new model boasts sensors capable of tracking heart rate, blood oxygen levels, sleep, and body temperature, alongside step counting and calorie burn estimation. It promises a battery life of about four to six days.

This development positions Casio as a competitor to existing smart ring brands like Oura, which are known for their minimalist designs. Casio's ring watches, however, retain the distinctive look of miniature Casio digital watches, complete with functional clock faces, stopwatches, and calendars. The company has offered these stylish, functional ring watches for some time, including an adorable G-Shock model.

The introduction of the CRW-H001M-8 suggests Casio is blending its iconic watch aesthetic with the health-tracking capabilities typically found in smart rings. The visual flair of Casio's offering provides a welcome alternative to the often understated appearance of many current smart rings on the market. Availability outside of China is anticipated.
