Bluepoint's Bloodborne remake pitch rejected by FromSoftware

Sony's Bluepoint Games, known for PlayStation remakes, pitched a Bloodborne remake in early 2025, but FromSoftware blocked the project, according to Bloomberg. The studio, which had been working on a canceled God of War live-service title, saw a modern Bloodborne as a natural next step given its 2020 Demon's Souls remake success.

However, FromSoftware reportedly opposed the idea without offering a clear reason. Bloomberg's Jason Schreier uncovered an interview with PlayStation exec Shuhei Yoshida revealing that FromSoftware president Hidetaka Miyazaki wanted to remake Bloodborne himself but was too busy and "doesn't want anyone else to touch it." This internal resistance left Bluepoint without a project for over a year.

With Bluepoint now shut down, a Bloodborne remake appears even more distant. While not impossible, any future remake would require Miyazaki's approval and direct oversight from FromSoftware, making it unlikely to happen without the original creator's involvement.
