The Australian Recording Industry Association announced that AI-generated tracks will be banned from the nation's music charts starting this Friday. Songs using generative AI as a support tool will still be eligible, provided they are 'substantially human made' and raise no chart manipulation concerns. Ineligible tracks will also lose access to ARIA Awards. 'The ARIA Charts will always remain a transparent measurement of the music Australia consumes, but a chart that rewards unlicensed AI output would undercut the very basis of the recorded music we exist to represent,' said ARIA CEO Annabelle Herd.

Herd called on radio and other industry parties to support human artistry and implement similar changes. The move aligns with global industry efforts, echoing IFPI recommendations from July and calls from major labels including Sony Music, Universal Music Group, and Warner Music Group.
