Cook teases revitalization of US manufacturing ghost towns

In one of his last interviews as Apple CEO [Tim Cook](https://appleinsider.com/inside/tim-cook "Tim Cook") points to the new Houston plant and accelerator as a triumph for US manufacturing and says that the company has plans to build factories in towns abandoned by previous major employers.

During his promotion of the new [Advanced Manufacturing Center](https://appleinsider.com/articles/26/08/13/apple-opens-houston-center-to-train-next-generation-of-us-manufacturers) in Houston, Texas, Tim Cook has revealed that Apple does look at revitalizing communities that have lost their major factories.

"I've seen the communities when things go away," [said Cook](https://www.cnbc.com/mad-money/) on *CNBC*, "and it's so important that there be a hub of economic activity in different places."
