Apple is set to introduce 14-inch and 16-inch touchscreen MacBook Pro models on Wednesday as premium additions to the lineup. The new 14-inch model will start at $2,899, carrying a $400 premium over the current non-touchscreen version with the same M5 Pro chip. The existing 16-inch MacBook Pro starts at $2,999 without a touchscreen, meaning the new touchscreen version would cost $3,399 after a similar price increase.
The touchscreen MacBook Pros feature OLED XDR displays, Dynamic Island, thinner display borders, and a redesigned hinge for stability during touch input. The devices will also include updated cooling systems and redesigned hinges that improve airflow. Apple has updated macOS Golden Gate to support touch input with dial-like menus that appear around a user's finger.
Preorders are expected to begin Wednesday, with sales potentially starting November 6, aligning with the release of the updated iPad mini, M6 MacBook Pro, and M6 iMac. The first generation will likely feature M5 Pro and M5 Max processors, with M7 Pro and M7 Max versions reportedly in development for fall 2027.
