Mac mini crowned ideal host for Perplexity AI

Perplexity has positioned its Personal Computer AI suite as a native Mac experience, declaring the Mac mini the optimal hardware for local deployment. The claim surfaced during Apple’s earnings call, where CEO Kevan Parekh praised Macs as emerging AI workstations and specifically name‑checked Perplexity. Founder Aravind Srinivas reinforced the message at the company’s Ask NYC event, highlighting the platform’s ability to manipulate files stored on the device.

Unlike cloud‑only services, Personal Computer runs multiple agents on the Mac itself, tapping Apple Silicon’s unified memory to process tasks and edit local documents. Perplexity reports the hybrid approach has already generated more than $2.8 billion in labor‑equivalent work since its March launch and helped the firm multiply revenue fivefold while expanding staff by 34 %.

The service is bundled with Perplexity’s Pro, Max and Enterprise plans, starting at $17 per month for basic users and $167 for the top tier. Access requires a Mac mini or Mac Studio, but Apple’s current supply crunch could delay purchases for months. Nonetheless, the tight integration promises a seamless continuity between iPhone and Mac, giving professionals a single AI‑powered workflow.
