Judge Orders Musk to Surrender SpaceX and Tesla Emails in Apple Antitrust Case

A federal judge has ruled that Elon Musk must turn over his SpaceX and Tesla business email accounts as part of the discovery process in his antitrust lawsuit against Apple. Judge Mark Pittman rejected Musk's objections, finding these accounts contain relevant communications for the case involving his xAI company.

Musk's xAI sued Apple and OpenAI in August 2025, claiming the companies engaged in anticompetitive practices to stifle competition on Apple's platforms. The lawsuit has moved slowly through the courts, with previous accusations that Musk destroyed and withheld evidence. Apple's SVP Craig Federighi was already named as a document custodian in May.

The judge determined that business conducted for X and xAI occurred through multiple communication channels, including various email addresses and Xchat accounts. This broad interpretation of relevant evidence suggests the court views Musk's business operations as interconnected across his companies.

The case appears increasingly shaky for Musk, who claims Apple and OpenAI conspired to suppress competing AI solutions. However, ChatGPT regularly ranks among the top free apps while Musk's platforms struggle due to their unpopularity and controversial content. The lawsuit seems more about personal grievances than legitimate competition concerns.
