If you've ever wanted to copy something on your iPhone and paste it on your Windows PC, the feature is coming in a fall 2027 release of iOS 28 to users in the EU.

Third-party developers can request interoperability features via a web portal. One such request was made by Microsoft (Request ID: FB22329535) for cross-device clipboard sharing between iOS and Windows. Submitted March 25, 2026, approved June 26, 2026. Microsoft argued consumers expect clipboard sharing to "just work," avoiding third-party apps and repeated permissions.

The EU DMA demands Apple allow interoperability requests. Apple's system shows the request moved through assessment stages. The clipboard feature falls into the longest timeline of around 18 months. While built for EU only, features like emulation have gone global.

Apple's solution uses Accessory Setup Kit for one-time permission pairing, similar to iOS 26.5 frameworks. The fall 2027 timeline suggests it may not arrive in the initial iOS 28.0 beta starting June 2027.
