Google's new Pixel 11 is the search giant's standard model of its new smartphone range. Here's how its latest introduction compares to its Apple counterpart, the iPhone 17. The vast majority of attention for Google and Apple's smartphone launches is around the premium models. However, not everyone is in the market for the high-end version, and would rather save a few bucks on something without every bell and whistle in existence.

Both phones use a 6.3-inch OLED display, but the iPhone 17 has a Super Retina XDR panel at 2,622 by 1,206 pixels (460 ppi) with Pro Motion up to 120Hz. The Pixel 11 uses an Actua panel at 2,424 by 1,080 pixels (422 ppi) with a 60-120Hz range. Peak brightness is 3,000 nits on both.

Camera strategy differs: the iPhone 17 has a Dual Fusion system with 48MP main and ultra-wide, while the Pixel 11 adds a 10.8MP telephoto with 5x optical zoom, reaching 30x with Super Zoom. Apple counters with higher-resolution sensors and superior video, including 4K Dolby Vision at 60fps and Cinematic mode.

On performance, the iPhone 17 uses the A19 chip with 8GB RAM, while the Pixel 11 uses Google's Tensor G6 with 12GB RAM. The Pixel is heavier (6.9 oz vs 6.24 oz) and has a larger horizontal camera bar. Both have IP68 ratings and start at $799 (iPhone) and $899 (Pixel).
