Apple's recent launch week brought updates across its product lineup, but not all were equally impressive. The company refreshed its MacBook Air, iPad Air, MacBook Pro, and displays, with some updates feeling more like spec bumps than meaningful improvements. While the week included notable hardware announcements, the overall reception has been mixed, with several products receiving lukewarm reviews from tech analysts.

Among the most criticized updates was the new Studio Display, which retained its 60Hz refresh rate despite competitors offering higher refresh rates. The Studio Display XDR received more praise for its 120Hz Adaptive Sync capability and 2000 nits brightness, though its compatibility is limited to newer M4 Macs. The MacBook Air M5 update brought the latest processor and Wi-Fi 7 support but offered little reason for existing users to upgrade, especially with a $100 price increase.

The MacBook Pro M5 updates, including the M5 Pro and M5 Max models, received better marks for their improved AI performance and active cooling capabilities. However, even these updates weren't compelling enough to drive immediate upgrades from previous generation owners. The iPad Air M4 update similarly offered modest improvements that left many questioning its position in Apple's tablet lineup.
