Apple Watch Series 12 & Ultra 4: Minor Updates, No Design Change

Apple is reportedly testing its September 2026 Apple Watch lineup, but the new models are expected to be minor updates while more substantial changes are far off.

Bloomberg reports that neither the Apple Watch Series 12 nor the expected Apple Watch Ultra 4 will get visible upgrades to their design. Instead, the updates focus on a significant performance boost through a new processor, with potential health and fitness tracking improvements that may come as software updates.

The new lineup carries the codenames N237 and N238 for the Wi‑Fi and cellular versions of the Series 12, while the Ultra 4 is codenamed N240. All three models are said to be in late‑stage testing, and no new Apple Watch SE is slated for this launch. A major redesign for the regular Apple Watch is expected in a couple of years.

Rumors about a new band‑attachment system and a doubled sensor count for the Ultra 4 have surfaced, but both remain unlikely given the current report’s emphasis on modest changes.
