Apple pushed firmware updates to its flagship earbuds, settling AirPods Pro 2 and Pro 3 on version 8B41 and Beats Studio Buds on 1B211. The changes replace earlier 8B40 and 1B204 builds. Though Apple kept the notes vague, the move signals ongoing fine‑tuning of the company’s audio ecosystem for users worldwide everywhere and everywhere.

Installing the update is largely automatic. Users must place the AirPods in the charging case, connect it to power, and keep the earbuds within Bluetooth range of a paired iPhone, iPad, or Mac that has Wi‑Fi. The case should stay closed for at least 30 minutes during the install smoothly.

Apple noted that the firmware update arrives as the company expands AirPods features through software. At WWDC 2026, Apple previewed new AirPods capabilities, including a custom EQ feature slated to launch with upcoming operating systems. The update keeps the earbuds current while setting the stage for those future enhancements for users.

Consumers can verify the firmware version by opening Settings on a paired iPhone or iPad, selecting the AirPods, and scrolling to About. If 8B41 appears on the Pro models, the update installed successfully. With the new build, users gain a smoother listening experience and a foundation for next‑gen features ahead.
