Apple TV Drops Bonfire of the Vanities Series

Apple TV will not proceed with a dramatization of Tom Wolfe’s *The Bonfire of the Vanities* after creative disagreements. The planned series, a third adaptation of the 1980s novel about greed and Wall Street, was slated for the streaming platform.

The project was to be written and produced by David E. Kelley, known for *Ally McBeal* and *The Practice*. It first surfaced in April 2026, though neither Apple TV nor Warner Bros Television had issued an official development statement.

Unspecified sources say the two companies were not creatively aligned, with Apple TV favouring one vision and Warner Bros Television another. The disagreement appears to have arisen during the script‑creation stage, before filming could begin.

Kelley’s team has announced that the series will be shopped to other streamers and networks in a turnaround process. While the record for such moves is mixed, Kelley’s track record of hits and Apple’s prior acquisition of titles like *Pachinko* suggest the project may find a new home.
