Apple Smart Glasses Gesture Control Confirmed by Multiple Sources

Apple's long-rumored smart glasses will rely on gesture-based input, with the device featuring two built-in cameras and Siri integration, according to multiple sources. The high-resolution camera will handle photos and videos, while a lower-resolution camera will manage gesture recognition and visual input tied to Apple's assistant.

The claims align with analyst Ming-Chi Kuo's June 2025 report suggesting a late 2027 launch. Notably, the glasses will skip 3D cameras and LiDAR sensors due to energy constraints from the small battery needed to keep the device thin and lightweight. Tim Cook reportedly views the product as a top priority in Apple's push toward AI-enabled wearables and Visual Intelligence.

Gesture controls make sense given Apple's existing patents dating back to 2020 and the Vision Pro's gesture-based navigation in visionOS. Analysts have predicted a 2026 or 2027 release since before the Vision Pro debuted at WWDC 2023. The glasses would serve as an AI-focused iPhone companion, potentially appealing to existing Apple ecosystem users.
