While the rumored camera‑equipped Air Pods Pro are not expected until 2027, Apple still plans a camera‑free update for the end of 2026, according to Mark Gurman in his Bloomberg "Power On" newsletter. He notes that the traditionally busy fall launch period often includes new Air Pods models, and although the camera‑laden version missed the 2026 window, another project is moving forward.

That project carries the internal codename B790, positioned as the alternative to the camera‑equipped B798 variants. Gurman says the B790 effort is "further along" in development, having appeared in **iOS 27" code and been listed on Apple’s internal roadmap for a possible 2026 release. The existence of competing internal prototypes is a regular practice at Apple, he adds.

Details about the B790’s features remain scarce, but the consensus is that it will be an refinement of the current Air Pods Pro line—offering improved audio, battery life, or connectivity—without any camera hardware. If the schedule holds, consumers could see the update hit shelves alongside other fall 2026 product announcements.
