Aside from its partnership with LG to produce a range of smart home products, Apple's long-rumored home camera is allegedly still on the way, and is expected in 2027. Late on Tuesday, a report surfaced claiming that Apple is working with LG on a number of smart home devices, including security cameras. However, the rumored lineup with LG is apparently not the same as Apple's own smart home imaging effort.

In a post to X clarifying the LG partnership story, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman says that the Apple-LG security cameras are "completely separate" from Apple's own "privacy-centric" home camera. Gurman adds that it will also be coming next year, as in 2027. Tuesday's report said that Apple is working with LG to create multiple smart home devices.

This includes outdoor and indoor security cameras, a floodlight camera, and a smart deadbolt. While co-developed, it is believed that they will be branded as an LG product despite Apple's involvement, much like the LG Ultra Fine Display. Apple was said to be working on a new smart camera, codenamed J450, back in August 2025.

It has also been linked to a Home Kit smart doorbell in 2024. As rumored, the cameras would be placed around the home, and could help automate other Apple Home devices. They would act as sensors, detecting if people enter and leave a space and activating lights in a room, for example.

It would have facial recognition to identify people, and would be capable of identifying pets as well. It would also operate at a low frame rate, using AI to analyze the room without recording video. The in-home camera has been described in October 2026 by Gurman as being a cylinder, one reminiscent of a "metal giant chapstick.".
