TCL is revolutionizing eye-friendly display technology with its next-generation NXTPAPER OLED, scheduled for 2026. The company plans to replace LCD with OLED technology while maintaining eye-friendly features. This move addresses criticisms of OLED flickering that have plagued competitors like Samsung, Apple, and Google. TCL aims to deliver superior visual quality without sacrificing user comfort.

The new NXTPAPER OLED will feature 3840Hz PWM dimming, a 10-15x increase over current smartphones. It reduces blue light output to 2.9% while shifting harmful blue wavelengths to safer bands. The display maintains its signature matte texture for better viewing and reduced glare. 10-bit color processing eliminates temporal dithering, creating a more comfortable viewing experience.

TCL plans to debut this technology in a $199 phone, likely at IFA Berlin in September 2026. The company is abandoning version numbers for simpler branding. By solving OLED's flickering issues while maintaining eye-friendly features, TCL appears positioned to disrupt the mid-range market with genuinely user-conscious technology.
