Samsung’s Galaxy XR Gains Enterprise Support for Healthcare and Retail

Samsung’s Galaxy XR has just received a major software update that plugs in Android Enterprise, opening doors for workplaces in training, healthcare, and retail. The patch adds enterprise‑grade controls and a Managed Google Play backbone, letting admins deploy and update apps through zero‑touch, QR code, or DPC provisioning. With this foundation, the headset can move beyond consumer labs into real‑world use today.

Beyond the enterprise hooks, Samsung rolled out consumer‑centric tweaks too. An enhanced virtual keyboard lets users lock preferred key layouts, while a desktop‑session‑restore feature lets them reopen the last three apps at a glance. Accessibility gains include expanded single‑eye tracking and pointer customization, plus auto‑spatialization that turns 2D YouTube or photo content into immersive 3D for all users today.

James Choi, Samsung’s EVP of XR R&D, framed the update as part of a broader strategy to build a scalable ecosystem. By integrating managed controls, the Galaxy XR can now host sensitive healthcare data and comply with corporate policies, while still offering gaming and AI‑driven productivity features. The patch, released April 7, signals Samsung’s intent to make XR a mainstream enterprise tool.
