OPPO Joins Foldable Race with Rumored Wide Phone to Challenge Samsung

OPPO appears to be developing a "Wide" foldable smartphone to compete directly with Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold series, according to recent leaks. This move follows similar efforts from Honor and Vivo, suggesting Chinese manufacturers are aggressively targeting the premium foldable segment that Samsung has largely dominated.

The foldable market has become increasingly competitive, with Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 7 facing pressure from multiple fronts. OPPO's Find N6 already earned recognition as one of 2026's best foldables, proving the company's design capabilities. A wider foldable form factor could offer users a tablet-like experience when unfolded.

Air Drop sharing is also expanding beyond Google Pixel and Samsung Galaxy devices, now appearing on OPPO and Vivo phones through what appears to be cross-manufacturer compatibility. This feature parity helps Chinese brands compete on ecosystem features traditionally dominated by Samsung and Google.

With OnePlus and OPPO planning price increases effective March 16, consumers eyeing these devices should act quickly. The Find X9 Ultra is also expected to debut globally in April, potentially bringing OPPO's camera innovations to international markets.
