Muse 300: A Distinctive Desktop DAC

The Muse 300 is a DAC with a custom OS, a 5‑inch panel, three distinct sound modes, and a unique UI that sets it apart from most black‑box units. It is now being crowdsourced for $379.

Its angular chassis, large panel, and front‑mounted control wheel give it a high‑end look. The design keeps cables tidy and rivals the Fiio K19, which costs four times as much.

The built‑in OS enables Balanced, Tube Amplifier, and ACG modes. Balanced delivers a neutral soundstage; Tube Amplifier adds warmth for casual listening; ACG offers bright, fast transients ideal for gaming.

Under the hood it houses an ESS ES9039 Ultra DAC chip and a Qualcomm QCC3095 Bluetooth 5.4 modem. It supports 32‑bit/384 kHz PCM, DSD256, 129dB SNR, and 0.0006 % THD+N.

Power output is 1.1W at 32 ohms via 6.3 mm, and 2.2 W over the balanced 4.4 mm connector. It offers USB, Bluetooth, optical, coaxial, XLR, and RCA outputs, but uses a USB‑B port and a 12 V/5 A brick.
