Mercedes-Benz and Chipolo Launch Cross-Platform Tracker Without UWB

Mercedes-Benz entered the Bluetooth tracker market through a partnership with Chipolo, launching a premium-branded item tracker that works across both major finding networks. The device integrates with Google's Find Hub and Apple's Find My ecosystem, addressing the long-standing divide between Android and iPhone tracking solutions.

The tracker builds on Chipolo's Loop design, targeting everyday items like keys, luggage, and backpacks. It offers up to 400 feet of Bluetooth range and a notably loud 125dB alarm for better audibility. Google Fast Pair simplifies setup, while native tracking apps eliminate the need for separate subscriptions. Privacy features include unwanted tracking alerts on both platforms.

However, the omission of ultra-wideband (UWB) support in 2026 stands out as a significant limitation. Without UWB, users miss the precise directional finding available on AirTags and Moto Tags. This reflects broader industry challenges, as Chipolo and other manufacturers struggle with inconsistent UWB implementations across platforms.

Despite lacking premium features like UWB, the cross-platform compatibility makes this tracker practical for mixed-device households. The collaboration represents one of Mercedes-Benz's more useful tech partnerships, solving real user pain points rather than simply branding existing accessories.
