iPhone Air Demand: Does Apple Even Care?

According to a Consumer Intelligence Research Partners survey, the iPhone Air isn't as popular as other models like the iPhone 17. Only 6% of buyers chose the Air in Q4 2025, compared to 22% for the iPhone 17 and higher percentages for the Pro models. However, this might not spell doom for Apple, as the company still enjoys strong overall sales.

Apple's strategy involves a broad lineup, competing across various price points. This allows them to capture a wider customer base and upsell consumers to more expensive models. The iPhone 17 Pro Max, the most expensive, was also the best-selling model. This suggests that the Air's perceived lack of demand isn't a major concern for Apple's bottom line.

Ultimately, Apple is focused on selling more iPhones at higher prices. Preliminary data indicates a 4.9% year-over-year increase in shipments for Q4 2025. The iPhone Air’s existence may serve a purpose, even if it's not a top seller. Apple's goal is to offer choices, and the Air contributes to that broader strategy, regardless of its individual sales figures.

Looking ahead, it's possible that the iPhone Air 2 may be cancelled, but this wouldn't necessarily indicate failure. The "mini" and "Plus" models that came before the Air were also discontinued. Apple's success lies in its overall performance, and the Air's role within that larger picture.
