Galaxy S26 24MP Camera Mode Hidden in Separate App

Samsung has tucked a new 24MP camera mode into the Galaxy S26 lineup, but accessing it requires downloading the Camera Assistant app from the Galaxy Store. The feature, which blends high-resolution detail with computational photography, sits between the standard 12MP and extreme 50MP/200MP options.

Unlike the 12MP default that uses pixel binning for better low-light performance, the 24MP mode leverages AI Fusion processing to combine higher-resolution data with multi-frame capture. This delivers sharper images with improved brightness while maintaining natural colors and everyday reliability. The mode is designed for simple point-and-shoot use, unlike Expert RAW's more manual 24MP option.

The 24MP setting isn't enabled by default - users must install Camera Assistant, toggle advanced resolution options, and then the feature appears in the stock camera interface. While this approach keeps the main app clean, it may limit adoption among casual users who won't discover the extra step. The Galaxy S26 series shares similar camera hardware across models, raising speculation that this feature could expand to older devices through future One UI updates.
