Google's June Android update prioritizes user protection with two major safety enhancements rolling out to devices. The Phone by Google app introduces Fake Call Detection, which verifies whether incoming calls genuinely originate from a contact's device before alerting users to potential scams.

When scammers spoof familiar numbers, the system displays a red warning on the call screen indicating "This may not be" the person they claim to be. Users receive this notification immediately after answering, allowing them to hang up before falling victim to fraud. The feature requires Android 12 or higher and integrates with existing spam protection tools.

Children under 13 gain access to Personal Safety app capabilities, including medical information display and emergency contacts visible on the lock screen. Parents can enable car crash detection that automatically contacts emergency services and texts designated contacts. Real-time location sharing and Safety Check features also extend to younger users.

The update expands Quick Share compatibility with AirDrop across more Android devices, enabling cross-platform file transfers without internet connectivity. This follows Google's earlier Pixel 10 rollout and February Pixel 9 support, with Samsung and Nothing phones slated for broader adoption. These safety measures arrive as summer begins, giving parents tools to monitor children spending more time away from home.
