The latest WhatsApp beta for iOS includes references to a revamped set of chat customization options, including animated wallpapers. As spotted by WABetaInfo, the build contains new chat themes divided into categories called Featured, Doodle, and Minimal.

Doodle offers wallpapers inspired by WhatsApp's classic doodle pattern, while Minimal uses solid white or black backgrounds depending on light or dark mode. Featured includes wallpapers with subtle motion. WABetaInfo notes the animation will be slow and gradual, enough to feel dynamic without drawing attention away from the conversation.

Chat bubble colors will vary automatically depending on the wallpaper, with WhatsApp selecting them rather than allowing user customization. The feature is still under development and not yet available to beta testers. However, with WhatsApp now working on it for both iOS and Android, some beta testers may soon see it ahead of a wider release.
