Walmart officially announced it will finally start rolling out Apple Pay after holding out for more than a decade. In a memo to store management obtained by 9to5Mac, the retailer said contactless payment support will start rolling out next week and launch for all stores in the United States by the end of this year.

The company is planning a phased, state-by-state rollout. Arkansas kicks things off Aug. 24–31, followed by West Coast states including California on Sept. 10. Texas arrives Sept. 17, Midwest states like Illinois and Ohio come Sept. 24, Florida lands Oct. 5, and Northeast states including New York wrap up Oct. 12. Notably, Missouri doesn't appear in Walmart's schedule, and it's not clear why.

Walmart also outlined every contactless payment method it will support: contactless-enabled credit and debit cards; digital wallets including Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay; supported payment-enabled smartwatches and wearables; and supported contactless EBT cards.

Apple Pay support at Walmart is long overdue. Will it change how you decide where to shop?
