TextExpander, a popular keyboard shortcut utility, now offers a free plan that grants access to its core Snippets feature across Mac, iPhone, iPad, Windows, and Chrome. The free tier includes 5 active Snippets, unlimited library storage, unlimited text expansions, and support for up to 5 team members. Snippets automatically expand into pre-written text, helping users quickly reply to emails, fill out forms, and prepare content.
While macOS has improved native text replacement, TextExpander’s advanced features like variable support, conditional sections, nested snippets, and math macros make it a powerful tool. The free plan keeps the same Snippet library in sync across all devices. However, the 5-Snippet limit may feel restrictive, and only one active Snippet can be swapped every two weeks.
Still, it serves as a good introduction to the app, allowing users to keep simpler replacements in macOS while reserving TextExpander for longer or more complex snippets. The free plan is available now for new and existing users.
