Tata Electronics confirmed it suffered a cyberattack, after a group calling itself World Leaks posted files they claim belong to Apple and Tesla. The leak includes over 200,000 documents totaling 630 gigabytes of component designs, quality‑inspection standards and internal emails. The breach comes as Tata faces heightened scrutiny over environmental practices in Indian plants. Tata said its response protocols were activated and operations remained unaffected.

Among the exposed material, researchers identified a 52‑page Apple‑branded dossier titled “com.apple.factorydata” that outlines inspection criteria for iPhone circuit‑board components, as well as folders referencing “Hosur,” the Tamil Nadu site where Tata assembles iPhones. Indian cybersecurity analyst Rajshekhar Rajaharia noted the dump also contains employee passports and years‑long event logs, raising concerns about supply‑chain privacy for the iPhone supply chain.

Apple has not commented publicly, but sources say the company is conducting a full forensic review of the breach. Reuters reported that a ransom demand was sent to Tata, and the leaked files have been circulating on the dark web since at least June 10. The incident highlights the vulnerability of third‑party manufacturers that handle proprietary designs for marquee brands.
