Speechify has expanded its Voice AI Assistant to iOS, marking a major step in its evolution from a text-to-speech tool to a full-featured AI platform. Previously available only on Chrome and the web, the assistant now allows iPhone users to perform web searches, summarize documents, create podcasts, and engage in multi-turn conversations using voice alone. The company is positioning the assistant as a competitor to ChatGPT, Siri, and Alexa.

It combines third-party and in-house AI models, developed by more than 40 researchers, to handle complex tasks. Speechify says the assistant can research, write, quiz, and even entertain users, aiming to boost productivity across work and learning. While currently cloud-based, future updates will bring on-device processing and deeper smartphone integration, including call automation.

Speechify’s aggressive expansion suggests a bid to become a dominant voice-driven AI assistant in a crowded market.
