Apple has introduced a fourth-generation Apple TV 4K featuring Siri AI and an A19 chip. The company has also shared good news for current Apple TV owners: Siri AI is compatible with select older models as well.
According to Apple's press release, Siri AI is available as a beta on Apple TV 4K (2nd generation or later). It is available at launch in English in the U.S., Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, and the UK. Users of the last two generations of Apple TV 4K will be able to benefit from Siri AI through a forthcoming tvOS software update.
The new Apple TV 4K comes with a variety of upgrades and a higher $299 starting price. Earlier reports had suggested that the rumored Siri AI support in tvOS would require the new hardware, but that does not appear to be the case.
Siri AI will almost certainly perform better on the latest hardware, but its support on some older models is still welcome news for owners who were considering an upgrade.
