At 8:14 p.m. ET, the company announced a fix had been implemented and most services were recovered for most users, though efforts continued for remaining instances. Proton assured users via X that data remained safe and nothing was lost during the disruption. Downdetector reports spiked as users experienced access issues across the platform ecosystem.

The engineering team worked throughout the evening to restore functionality across the encrypted email, VPN, calendar, drive, password manager, and wallet services. Proton thanked users for their patience while apologizing for the disruption to their day.
