Pocket Casts has launched a new, free app for Apple TV, allowing users to listen to podcasts on their largest screen. The app syncs playback position, Up Next queue, and history across devices, enabling seamless listening from commutes to the couch. "Same Up Next. Same history. Same place in every episode, room to room," Pocket Casts stated in its announcement. An Android TV version is slated for release soon.

This expansion follows a busy summer for Pocket Casts, which updated its iPhone app with Apple's Liquid Glass design in June and added chapter artwork support to the Lock Screen, Control Center, and CarPlay in July. The release of new tvOS apps is infrequent, with WordPress TV also debuting a new app recently.

Apple Podcasts users can anticipate an upgrade to their official app on Apple TV this fall with the release of tvOS 17, which will introduce video podcast support. tvOS 17 is currently in beta.
